<description>Governor Corzine has said he will happily sign a bill awarding full marriage rights to same-sex couples if/when it crosses his desk, which would make New Jersey the first state to enact same-sex marriage through legislation rather than courts. After being presented with a report from Garden State Equality about the ineffectiveness of civil unions, Corzine made the offer. But he said he wouldn't sign a bill until after the presidential elections, because he doesn't want it turning into an "election issue."
