Italian Meatballs

Ingredients

  • olive oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 4 eggs (or egg substitute equivalent), lightly beaten
  • 1 1/2 cups Italian flavored bread crumbs
  • grated cheese
  • garlic powder
  • onion powder
  • seasoned salt
  • seasoned pepper
  • sliced mozzarella cheese (optional)

Step by step

  • Put some olive oil in a large frying pan and heat it on medium high heat.
  • Combine the beef and eggs in a large bowl. Mix well.
  • Put the bread crumbs in another bowl. Cover generously with a layer of each of the following:
    • grated cheese
    • garlic powder
    • onion powder
    • seasoned salt
    • seasoned pepper
  • Mix the dry ingredients together well.
  • Pour the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients. Mix well.
  • Form the mixture into balls.
  • Place the meatballs in the frying pan one at a time. Please note that the oil may splatter.
  • Fry the meatballs for approximately five minutes on one side until they are nice and brown. Continue turning and frying the meatballs five minutes per side until they are brown all over and cooked throughout. Cook the meatballs as if each has six "sides" (as if they were cube-shaped).
  • If you like, melt a slice of mozzarella cheese on top of each meatball. Be careful not to overmelt the cheese, as then it makes it really hard to serve.
