Oatmeal cookies

Ingredients
- 1 1/4 c. margarine (or butter for moister cookies)
- 3/4 c. brown sugar
- 1/2 c. granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 1/2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 3 c. oats
Step by step
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Beat margarine (or butter) and sugars until fluffy.
- Beat in egg and vanilla.
- In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and spices.
- Combine and mix well.
- Gently stir in oats.
- Drop by rounded spoonful onto ungreased cookie sheets.
- Bake 8 to 9 minutes for chewy cookies, 10 to 11 minutes for crisp cookies.
- Cool one minute on sheet and then transfer to cooling rack.
- Yields approximately 4 dozen cookies.
