Ingredients

  • 6 cans crushed tomatoes (not Rienzi; they're too chunky)
  • 1½ bottle of good red wine (750mL)
  • oregano
  • basil
  • garlic powder
  • garlic
  • onion
  • salt
  • pepper

Step by step

  • Empty tomatoes into a large, non-stick pot or slow cooker.
  • Chop garlic and add to pot.
  • Add equal amounts oregano and basil, garlic powder, salt and pepper to taste.
  • Stir in wine.
  • Simmer for 4-6 hours, stirring every 30 minutes to avoid burning.
